League Rules

 

GROUND RULES

 

The tournament shall apply the International Amateur Rules in Basketball with the following ground rules.
1. Defaulting / Forfeiting time is fifteen (15) minutes after a team's scheduled game.

2. Only the team captain in the floor can communicate with the game officials including table officials regarding technicalities but not judgement call.
However, it should be in a courteous and calm manner.

3. A player shall be disqualified / send out of the game if:
- He commits two (2) technical fouls in a game;
- He commits two (2) intentional / deliberate fouls in a game;
- He commits both or combination of the two type of fouls mentioned beforehand.
- The sports committee has the power to disqualify any player that may cause detrimental values to the league.

4. A player/coach disqualified or send out of the game shall be automatically be suspended on his next game. Repeating this offense shall be automatically disqualified from further participation in the league. In case it's the last game, the suspension will be imposed on the next league.

5. The following are prohibited from the gym's premises:
- SMOKING
- ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES
- PROHIBITED DRUGS
- GUNS or DEADLY WEAPON/S


6. Team members found positive either on alcohol or high on drugs cannot sit down on team’s bench and cannot play on that day. The committee still has the final decision on this matter.

7. A team who “walked-out” on the game shall lose the game by forfeiture.

8. A team who lost by two (2) defaults / forfeitures shall be disqualified from further participation.

9. Fine for a default or a walk-out of a game is P4,000.00.

10. In case of fights, every player involved will be automatically banned from the league. A fight means: someone who has thrown a punch or kick an opponent or other physical contact that is not related to basketball. The officials and the technical committees still have the final decision.

11. All postponed games will be re-scheduled at the end of the round. There will be no games when typhoon is raised to Signal No. 2 & up.

12. In the absence of the coach, the team captain will act as the playing coach.

13. Coach and/or team officials must be in proper attire (not in slippers or in sleeveless shirt). Anyone who violates this rule may not sit on the team’s bench and may not guide their team on that game.


14. Fine/Penalty should be paid in cash before an individual player or the team will be allowed to play in their succeeding game/s.


15. Player/s caught giving an obscene sign such as dirty finger or heard saying bad words to any official/s, technical committee/s, or to an opponent, that player/s will be given a:
  a. Technical foul (Fine of P1,000.00) on the first offense;
  b. Thrown out of the game on the second offense and will be suspended on his next team game. Also a penalty of P2,000.00 will be assessed to that subject.


PROTEST

 

The protesting teams must follow the procedures stated:

  1. Protest on player’s eligibility shall be entertained even during the championship game.
  2. Decision of the committee shall &will be final.

Committee on protest

-The committee on protest shall be composed of members to be designated by the Organizer of the Grace Alumni Basketball League


FORCE-MAJEURS

After 20 minutes that the force-majeur have occurred, the following procedures shall be applied:

1. If the force-majeur occurred before the first half of the game, that game shall be canceled and re-scheduled at the end of the round. The game will start from the beginning. Only those present team members on that canceled game can play on the re-scheduled game

2. If the force majeur occurred after the first half of the game, the game shall be continued at the end of the round. All scores, fouls, team fouls, time remaining, etc. shall be valid. Again, only those present team members on that canceled game can play on the re-scheduled game 3. If the electronic scoreboard and/or electronic time malfunctioned, hand held game watch or stop watch &chalk board shall be used

4. If the Technical Committee decides to postpone a game/s because of “Force Majeure” before it has begun, the said games will be played at the latter part of the tournament.


***Very important***

Any player of a team caught defrauding, cheating, lying, plagiarizing any of the rules & requirements shall be strictly imposed with the following consequences.

Team won game/s shall be forfeited and consider approved by a lost game/s.
- A fine of P5,000.00 will be imposed.
- Second offense of the same team shall be banned from the remaining duration of the league.

UNIFORMS

-Teams are suggested to have two (2) sets of uniforms; a light and a dark colored uniform. The light colored uniform will be white, any dark color aside from white will be considered dark colored.

- Team’s short can be one as long as it is a dark color.

- Players should stick to the assigned uniform; no special changes will be entertained.

- A player cannot play if he doesn’t have the proper uniform

OPENING DAY


- All teams should participate. Any "No-show" team in the opening shall be fined P5,000.00
- Three-fourths (3/4) of the registered players should be at the opening ceremony (Example: 11 of 15, 8 of 11). Otherwise, fine of P1,000.00 per player will be imposed if the team does not meet the requirement.
- Moreover, players that are absent on that day will not be allowed to play on their first game and may only be allowed to play on the next team game.
- The team should provide a muse/s or escort/s. Otherwise, a fine of P1,000.00 will be charged to the team if there is no representative from the team.
- The team should be at the venue thirty (30) minutes before the opening starts with their respective uniforms and muse or escort.
- The team should also provide one (1) team banner. Failure to provide a banner will be charged a P1,000.00 fine.


RECOGNITION OF TEAM AND PLAYERS


- Trophies will be awarded to the top three (3) teams.

Mythical Five, Defensive Team, Season MVP and Finals MVP will be selected after the final game.


CLOSING CEREMONIES


- Majority of the team members must be present during the closing ceremonies. Otherwise, fine of P1,000.00 per player will be imposed if the team does not meet the requirement.
- Bond fee will be return after the closing ceremonies

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS

Only FULLY PAID TEAMS will be allowed to participate in the league.
-
The technical committee has the final decision in everything.
-
The technical committee reserves the right to change, delete, or add any materials regarding the league rules.
- The technical committee reserves the right to increase penalty depending upon the gravity of the offense of a player or a team.
- Teams are required to maintain their bond fees intact. If, however the bond fee is reduced due to penalties, the team must first complete the bond fee before they will be allowed to play their next game. Failure to do so will mean forfeiture for that team.


BREAKING THE TIES


1. The classification of teams shall be based on points
  a.) Two (2) points for a win;
  b.) One (1) point for a loss;
  c.) Zero (0) point for a default or forfeiture.
2. In case of a two way tie, the winner-over-the-other rule shall take precedence.
3. If more than two teams are equal in the placing, still a quotient system will be followed.

PLAYER’S AND TEAM’S QUALIFICATIONS


1. All players must be an alumnus or must at least studied in Grace Christian High School at any level for one school year.
2. Players should submit any proof of eligibility as an alumnus of Grace Christian High School such as School’s ID, Report Cards, Diploma, Yearbook, etc. If not, that player will not be allowed to play in the league.
3.
A team is eligible to field in a maximum of fifteen (15) players for Fellowship division and twelve (12) players for the competitive division.
4. All participants are required to fill out the information form completely.
5. All participating players should be in good moral character. The committee has all the right to reject the proposed player/s that will be found to have a negative record/s at GCHS
  a.) The team captain of the protesting team must sign the Score sheet “Under Protest” after his team game and inform the organizer that he’s protesting the result of the game.
  b.) The team must forward a formal written protest to the Committee on Protest within 24 hours after the game has been played.
  c.) The written protest should have a deposit of P2,000.00 as security. The same amount shall be returned if their protest is valid. However, if the protest is not valid, the deposited money will not be returned to the protesting party.
